About Us

At First Church, we understand the importance of leaving a spiritual legacy for the next generation of Christ-followers. Located in North Platte, Nebraska, our church serves the needs of a rural, blue collar community.


We are committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive space for all who seek to grow their faith and deepen their relationship with Jesus.

Our Values

We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to align every ministry with our mission to leave a spiritual legacy for the next generation of Christ-followers.


Worship

We strive to glorify God through worship that is rooted in scripture, and that draws us closer to Him. Every weekend is filled with a variety of music, Bible readings, and a relevant message.


Service

We are called to serve our community and those in need, through both physical and spiritual acts of love and kindness. Our service focuses on feeding the hungry - serving warm meals, helping to fill the local food pantries, and more.


Discipleship

We prioritize the practice of growing in our spiritual walk with Jesus through small groups. Each group helps their members to grow in their understanding of the Bible, their relationship with God, and their relationship with other Christ-followers.


Generosity

Jesus has been so good to us. Every day we strive to see Him at work in our lives. Even simply seeing a sunrise can inspire us to be thankful for another day to leave this legacy. We strive to be wise stewards of the resources God has given us, using them to meet the needs of the church and community.


Holiness

We strive to be a holy people, living in obedience to God’s Word and in surrender to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. We believe in confessing Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We also believe in His justifying grace which continues to work in and through us until we enter heaven’s gates.


Mission

Our mission is to leave a spiritual legacy for the next generation of Christ-followers. This statement summarizes our efforts to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20), making disciples of Jesus Christ, informed by the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40) loving one another as Christ loves us.

  • Prayer

    Through prayer we can share our thoughts, concerns, joys, and more.


    One way we practice the discipline of prayer is by praying on our own and whenever we get together. We pray in worship, small groups, when we do mission work, with our children, and more.

  • Baptism

    Baptism is the expression of God’s never-ending grace and our desire to live a life of holiness through the Holy Spirit and inspired by Christ Jesus.


    First Church baptizes all ages (infant - adult) and in a variety of ways. You do not have to be a member of First Church to get baptized. Because we want to surround you with a community of support we do baptisms during our worship gatherings. We also host a special worship gathering in July called Baptism at the Lake.


    Before every baptism we ask that you have a conversation with our pastor. This allows us to really celebrate your decision and it gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

  • Membership

    You don't have to be a member to fit in at First Church. In fact, you can participate in all of our ministries without becoming a member. Membership at First Church is a commitment you make to follow Christ and to support First Church though your worship, gifts, service, witness, and prayer.


    Becoming a member is easy. Simply come to a 'Dinner with the Pastor' and then let us recognize you in worship. To RSVP for the next dinner or for questions call the church office at 532-1478 or email kendra@firstchurchnp.com.

  • Communion

    The focus of Communion is the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. As a result of His sacrifice we gain an abundant life now, an eternal life in heaven, and access to a relationship with God that otherwise would not be possible. Because the sacrifice is Jesus' and not ours, everyone is welcome to receive Communion at First Church.


    We share in Communion on the first Sunday of every month at our 10:30 and Saturday night worship gatherings. At 9:00 worship we share Communion every Sunday. We also offer Communion at Christmas Eve Worship, Maundy-Thursday, and other times.
